Is the credit score model just broken?

My girlfriend's Chapter 13 finally aged off her report and her score didn't change at all. She's been rebuilding since discharge with on time payments, low utilization and a mix of cards and a car loan. You'd think losing a major negative like a bankruptcy would give her a bump but it stayed stuck at 680. She called TransUnion and they gave her a generic response about scoring models being "complex." Is this normal or are these credit repair systems just designed to keep people chasing numbers that barely move?

I get why you're frustrated. 680 feels low after all that effort. But it's pretty normal. Credit scores look more at what's been happening lately than old stuff. If she's been doing things right, the bankruptcy dropping off might not change much. Just keep using credit wisely and give it a little more time.

Thanks for your reply and for confirming our experience is common. It's frustrating that removing a major negative item after seven years has no impact on the score. Does the algorithm gradually account for the bankruptcy's eventual removal, so the benefit is already reflected before it drops off? We'll continue to keep low balances and pay on time and will see if our score changes over the next six months.

As a single father of two, life hasn’t been easy. Between bills, rent, and trying to give my kids the best I can, my credit took a serious hit. I felt stuck and didn’t know where to turn—until I came across Daniel, the credit repair expert.

From the very beginning, Daniel was patient, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He walked me through every step of the process, explained things in a way I could understand, and gave me hope that I could finally rebuild my financial future.

Within just a few months, I saw real progress. Negative items started coming off my report, my credit score improved, and I was able to qualify for opportunities I never thought possible again. More importantly, Daniel helped me regain confidence in myself and my ability to provide for my children.

I can’t recommend Daniel enough. If you’re struggling with your credit and don’t know where to start, reach out to him. He truly cares and delivers results. You can contact him directly at [email protected]—trust me, it will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make...
